Wanted to put the videos in this panel, but I can only embed widgets into the tab panels.
Thought I could create a widget to paste in here, then change the video source references but I can only embed a shortcode for a global widget that I have created. This means that we cant change the video content in the global widget – as its global. Darn…
Cant find a way to construct a custom widget without serious coding and even then it wont be able to be embedded in the tab panel as its not a global widget with a system generated shortcode….!
Cant build any custom stuff in here as the tab panel wont accept any HTML.
Tried to create a number of different galleries, but that either, a) wont support video content, or, b) will only support self hosted / you tube / vimeo source, and we cant set a nice side panel with the header and narrative!
Thought we could then use a carousel, but cant embed video or html in the carousel.
Almost had it with a “slide” widget, but it embeds the video very small, and cant get rid of the button (see below)
Feeling a bit “thwarted”
Couple of “simple” ideas:
1) Add in a secondary menu embedded in the page (see below) that links back and forth between several identical pages. Each page featuring a list of the videos per topic as per the current single page. So we have 1 x page for Word, 1 x page for Powerpoint, etc… Kind of hints at being a bit like the tab option (which is the best looking of course… but we cant do…)
(I didn’t set up a new menu as I didn’t want. to mess about with your site content other than the temporary page)
OR
2) add a third layer of menu in the top menu bar to access the individual topic pages from the drop downs
OR
3) promote “Video How-tos” to the top layer of the main menus, then have a second layer of menu in the top menu bar to access the individual topic pages from the drop down
in 1 and 2 and 3 we just keep the video pages as they are, nice and simple to edit and view, and of course restricted to one topic area per page.
